Tef-Gel – Anti-Corrosion Paste – 20cc Syringe

Tef-Gel is a unique product designed to prevent galvanic corrosion occurring between dissimilar metals.

If you need to add extra stainless steel fittings to your aluminium tank we would recommend the use of Tef-Gel® to eliminate the risk of galvanic corrosion.

What is galvanic corrosion?

Galvanic corrosion (also called bimetallic corrosion) is an electrochemical process in which one metal corrodes preferentially when it is in electrical contact with another, in the presence of an electrolyte.

Why is it a problem?

Galvanic corrosion as the name suggests accelerates the corrosion of the metallic materials, and so should be avoided.

When should I protect against it?

Whenever dissimilar metals come into contact with each other there is the potential for galvanic corrosion to occur. For example, when fitting stainless steel fixings into an aluminium part on your boat, there is the risk of galvanic corrosion occurring.

How does Tef-Gel work?

Tef-Gel prevents electrolytes from coming into contact with the metal surfaces that it is coating, thereby eliminating the possibility of dissimilar galvanic corrosion.

How do I apply Tef-Gel?

Tef-Gel comes in a handy tube, with a small nozzle so you simply squeeze it out as necessary onto the metal surfaces you wish to protect.
